22nd Volunteer Day a Success

Syosset High School's Awareness Club welcomes 17 organizations to educate students on opportunities.

Syosset High School's Awareness Club welcomed representatives from area organizations for their 22nd Annual Volunteer Day.

17 organizations, including Syosset Fire Department, Syosset Public Library, Sunrise Day Camp, Island Harvest, Horseability, Winthrop University Hospital, and Grateful Greyhounds, joined students who were interested in their cause and volunteering with them.

Students made the most of the day, selling baked goods and raising money for all the organizations in attendance. In addition, Latin and Italian clubs presented Island Harvest with a $500 check, thanks to a holiday "secret snowman" fundraiser, and Student Government donated $200 to the local food bank.

Volunteer Day raises awareness of community service organizations and provides students with opportunities to help their community.
