BOE Picks Firm for Superintendent Search

A message from the Syosset Board of Education

The Board has reviewed proposals and conducted interviews with several superintendent search firms during the past week. The Board has selected the executive search firm of Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA).  

We are confident that HYA is uniquely qualified to assist the Board, faculty and community with a customized search for our new superintendent, tailored to the needs of our District.  

The breadth and depth of their national network will enable HYA to identify and recruit current and emerging educational leaders.  A formal planning session among the Board and HYA will be scheduled for the beginning of September.  

In subsequent weeks, focus groups with members of the community and faculty will be conducted. The Board intends to seek extensive community involvement in providing input prior to establishing the criteria for our search.  

HYA will develop an online survey that can be completed by anyone who wishes to participate.  A clear definition of the position and qualifications sought is crucial to each subsequent phase of a successful search. 

We will continue to keep you informed of dates for focus groups and general forums.  These groups and forums will be facilitated by HYA so as to determine issues of concern and desired characteristics which we seek in potential candidates.
