Bomb Threat Prompts School Evacuations

Students are now back in the buildings.

South Woods Middle School and Syosset High School were evacuated Tuesday after a security guard on duty was told about a "non-specific" bomb threat.

Parents received taped-message phone calls concerning the threat, which came at approximately 7:50 a.m.

"The emergency management plan was activated and both South Woods Middle School and Syosset High School were evacuated," according to a school district statement. "Police and district officials conducted a search of both buildings."
