ANNOUNCING JUNE 17 FREE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM TO INTRODUCE A PROVEN ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL DIVORCE

Westbury, NY, June 2, 2010 – Harriette M. Steinberg, Esq., and Harry Grabarz, Ph.D., have announced plans to introduce the Long Island community to a non-litigation divorce model. Through free community educational programs offered by their new interdisciplinary group, Collaborative Dispute Resolutions (CDR), they explain the short-term and long-term legal, financial and emotional benefits this proven method delivers to couples and their children, compared to the traditionally adversarial divorce process. On Thursday, June 17 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., CDR will host its first free introductory educational session at 1400 Old Country Road, Westbury. As seating is limited, RSVP to 516-726-3289 by June 14.

CDR was established by experienced Long Island attorneys and mental health practitioners trained in groundbreaking collaborative methodologies to help disputing couples navigate dissolution equitably and amicably. In addition to Ms. Steinberg and Dr. Grabarz, CDR charter members are Neil Cahn, Esq., Latonia Early-Hubelbank, Esq., Lloyd M. Friedland, Esq., Charles J. McEvily, Esq., Neil Grossman, Ph.D., Roxane Polak, Ph.D., and Nancy Kaye, CFP, CDFA, MBA.

According to Ms. Steinberg, "We help couples resolve their marital disputes without blame or revenge, so they can reach a mutually agreeable outcome that respects both parties' needs. Beyond protecting each person's legal rights, our collaborative specialists address the long-term legal, financial and emotional goals of the individuals and their children. The integrity and efficiency of the total collaborative process help keep divorce costs predictable and frequently lower than with typical litigation methods."

Dr. Grabarz commented that "with the expert guidance of our collaborative specialists, couples can co-design a settlement that meets their unique needs and establishes a new foundation of positive communications to avoid future disputes. Their children also have a clear voice in the outcome and are spared the potentially damaging stress of litigation and parental conflict. Our goal is to enable a win-win-win for everyone involved."

CDR is scheduling educational programs to introduce the new collaborative divorce model to community organizations, social groups, mental health professionals, religious leaders and other sources that reach couples who can benefit the most. They will also make the program available to open public forums including Long Island libraries. To schedule a presentation, call 516-726-3289.
