Well, that wasn't too bad yesterday, was it? Snow experts had called for as much as a, but it looked like we got a bit less and the roads, for the most part, were clear by early afternoon. Compared to the  and Long Island, this one was just a baby.

Anyway, there is much going on today in Syosset that you should know about, so without further ado...

  1. Check out stories from yesterday in case you missed it, because a lot went down (besides the snow).  The Syosset Fire Department has seen some action outside of Syosset recently, early Wednesday morning in a huge commercial building fire. The mixture of snow and fire has made for some cool photo's, such as these pictures from the earlier this week taken by Kevin Imm . Also on Wednesday police said they in connection to a that occured at the Capital One Bank Woodbury. 
  2. The band "Ball in the House" recently performed some hits at Village Elementary School, and About Town columnist Susan Leaderman was there for the story and video.  So, be sure to check back with Patch at 10 a.m. for the full story and the band's cover of a popular Rolling Stones hit. 
  3. Two big sports contests today for Syosset High School - . Bowling meets are held at Farmingdale Lanes in Farmingdale, if you want to go lend your support to the team. The Syosset wrestling team also has a . Let's go Braves!
  4. The is being held at 6:45 p.m. at the Plainview Old Bethpage Public Library. If you're into stocks and finance or just looking to learn, the meeting should be a great place to get started. 
  5. Thursday is the first date of the . Games are all for the family, and the event is best for ages six and up. The event includes some new game selections: chose between Billionaie, Rage and Word on the Street. Should be a fun time for everyone.
