Judd Apatow Finally Gets His Diploma

Hit comedy producer and Syosset grad received diploma 27 years late.

Blockbuster comedy producer and graduate, Judd Apatow, finally got his diploma this week, 27 years late.

Apatow, producer of hit films like Bridesmaids and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, said he received his long, lost diploma after someone cleaned out a desk.

"I never picked up my '85 high school diploma. A nice woman in the office at Syosset High found it so I picked it up," Apatow tweeted early Thursday morning.

According to Apatow, the diploma was sitting in someone's desk that hadn't been organized in a long time. Before he tweeted the news of reuniting with his diploma, he reminisced on his high school years, saying, "When I went to school I slept in class and cheated quite a bit. Shocking how much I slept behind a well placed hand-- pretending to read."

He then joked about how his cheating system failed in science class, saying, "I cheated in AP physics then my scam collapsed and in my second semester I was so far behind because I learned nothing and failed hard."

Apatow revisited his alma mater in June, discussing his roots.

Apatow honed a foundation for his comedic future at Syosset High School as a DJ on the school radio station, WKWZ. While there, he interviewed popular and up-and-coming comics, like Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser, Howard Stern and John Candy. He graduated in 1985.

This Is 40, Apatow's newest film, is a spinoff of the hit comedy Knocked Up starring Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen. The movie centers around a couple played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, Apatow's wife, and their daughters, played by Apatow's daughters Iris and Maude. The film is set to premiere in December.
