Graduations are often celebrated by the entire family. But when family members are serving overseas in the military, they often can't attend in person, as much as they'd like to.

Unless of course, they can coordinate a wonderful surprise.

That was the case on June 25, when U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Richard Davis surprised his daughter, Stephanie, during her Syosset High School graduation ceremony.

Davis came up to the stage and presented his daughter with her diploma.

Davis has been deployed in Afghanistan since July 2013 and was not scheduled to return until next month.

I was there seeing my daughter graduate and I was emotional to begin with. That was a goosebumps moment. The whole Mack Center was electric. Glad I got to be there!
