Notes From the Syosset BOE Meeting

The board passed resolution C-1, establishment of school and public library tax levies for 2011-2012. During the audience to the public segment, Superintendent Carole Hankin said information on the levies, such as the total amount assessed and the percent change from last year, were not yet available.

Audience to the Public

Residents were told during the audience to the public that only items on the agenda could be discussed. , a Syosset resident and critic of the school board, said after the meeting that he wished to discuss the new materials posted on the District website, such as information regarding Carole Hankin's contract, as well as questions relating to the preparation of the annual budget.

The board said that residents wishing to speak about items not on the agenda must write in their request.

Web Site Updated

Hankin acknowledged during the meeting that the school website has been updated. Now posted under the tab "Business and Finance" is the 2011-2012 budget, reserves, Hankin's contract for 2011 through 2016, and employment agreements. The 2011-2012 District Calendar, which includes monthly activities such as the board meetings, are now posted on the site.

Hankin and Board President Dr. Marc Herman declined to comment after the meeting.
