South Grove Elementary students collected hundreds of food items for Hurricane Sandy victims.

Members of South Grove's student council, under the direction of Cathy Bozza and Susan Rusciano, worked to collect donations for their Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort and Fall Food Drive. Working diligently to encourage classmates to contribute, students collected hundreds of nonperishable canned goods for Island Harvest.

The drive will continue through Dec. 18.

Items being collected include blankets, toiletries, cleaning supplies, tools, and warm weather clothing. All donations head to Long Beach and Island Park.
