South Grove Kindergartners Bring Holiday Cheer to Seniors

Students sing for seniors at Woodbury Senior Center and White Oaks Nursing Home.

Bringing the holidays to life, kindergartners from South Grove Elementary visited two senior homes on Dec. 16 – the Woodbury Senior Center and White Oaks Nursing Home. The trip is an annual event that allows students to sing holiday songs for local senior citizens.

The students sang a variety of holiday tunes, which they have been rehearsing for a couple of weeks, to the senior citizens, who joyfully sang along with the kindergartners. Songs included “My Favorite Things,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Marshmallow World” and “Jingle Bells.” While performing “Jingle Bells,” each student wore a jingle mitten to shake to the beat of the song.

All of the kindergartners, many of whom wore their best holiday outfits for the special occasion, enthusiastically performed for the seniors, spreading a warm holiday spirit throughout both residences.
