Student is Semifinalist in U.S. Physics Team Selection

Syosset student named a semifinalist in US Physics Team selection.

A Syosset High School junior is on his way to becoming part of the U.S. Physics Team.

Junior Anthony Lobko was chosen by the American Association of Physics Teachers as one of 300 semifinalists in the quest to become a team member of the U.S. team.

Lobko was chosen out of 3,000 students who took a challenging preliminary exam in January. He will take another exam at the end of March. The top 20 scorers on that exam will travel to the University of Maryland College Park and participate in the U.S. Physics Team training camp.

If Lobko makes it to the camp and is one of the five students and one alternate selected for the team, he would represent the United States at the International Physics Olympiad in Denmark in July.

The Syosset School District wished Lobko the best of luck and is proud of his accomplishments.
