Syosset Hockey Won't Give Up Despite County Loss

Syosset ice hockey team loses county finals but is optimistic, won't falter before season ends.

Though the Syosset Braves conceded a 10-1 defeat Wednesday in the County Finals Championship against the Long Beach Marines, the heartbreaking loss doesn't tell the story of the season, says Head Coach Richard Golstein.

"The season was phenomenal, it went better than we could've imagined," he said after the game.  "We have 14 skaters, most have 20, and we did more with what we have, moreso than most clubs did with the 20."

Goldstein pointed out several key players which he attributed to the team's success.

"Corey Hoffman led the league with 101 points this year, he's very skilled and driven.  The captain, Adam Goldstein was rock solid on defense.  Johny Lazarus played offense and defense very effictively too."

The league-leader Hoffman, a Sophomore, expects to finish the season's competition successfully.

"We have the TOBAY Championship against Massapequa, and the States, we'll be prepared," he said.
