"I'm looking forward to some unity and getting back to the real business at hand," said Frankel, adding she was relieved that the results were finally in.

Parker echoed Frankel's relief, adding, "I'm very optimistic about a good year ahead."

"It's bittersweet," said Gershon of the win, addressing Weiner's loss. Weiner, Gershon, and Frankel campaigned together.

"There was no one on the board with his business experience...But there are some people on there with some really innovative ideas so I'm looking forward to working with them."

In April, the board agreed that the candidate with the most amount of votes would be sworn in Tuesday night to fill former Trustee Lana Ajemian's seat. However, the margin of votes between Tracy Frankel and Robert Gershon was too small, said Board President Michael Cohen. Therefore, the final decision on who will take her place will likely be made later in the week, he said.

Syosset residents also voted in favor of the $209,054,963 budget, which came under the state-alotted tax levy cap.

Final tallies were as follows:

  • Gershon: 2,740
  • Frankel: 2,715
  • Parker: 2,460
  • Weiner: 2,338

The Syosset Public Library budget also passed.
