Syosset School District announced that schools would remain closed for the remainder of the week as the area continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy.
Our Lady of Mercy Academy called off school as well later on Wednesday, saying classes would be cancelled throughout the week.
Excited students cheered about the announcement on Twitter.
