Syosset High Student Caught With Drugs in Restroom

The defendant, John Chung, will have his first court appearance Friday.

A 17-year-old Syosset High School student was arrested Thursday morning when he was caught in a school restroom with what turned out to be controlled substances.

A teacher walked into the restroom and noticed John Chung, of 11 Lincrest St., holding what looked to be a Zip Lock-type bag. He was brought to an administrative office, and while emptying his pockets a glassine bag fell out containing 44 full pills and 22 partial pills believed to be Xanax.

Chung was charged with criminal possession of controlled substances in the 5th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
