Syosset High School kicked off spirit week with a walk-a-thon to benefit Hempstead's Mary Brennan Inn. The walk, which included over 2,200 students representing all grade levels, raised about $1,500 for the charity.
With peer helpers cheering them on, walkers, lead by a color guard procession, marching band, and cheerleaders, began spirit week by giving some to others. The walk raises money for a different charity every year and begins a week of blood drives, health fairs, and pep rallies leading up to Homecoming on Saturday.
