Syosset Musicians to Play Lincoln Center

Five Syosset High School students selected for 30th Annual Young Musicians Competition.

Five Syosset High School musicians will grace the Lincoln Center stage in April.

The school's chamber ensemble is one of 10 groups to perform at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 30th Annual Young Musicians Competition.

The event will take place in Alice Tully Hall April 18.

Among the Syosset students selected to play are violin players Mary Kim and William Chan, viola player Hyunkee Sung, cellist Anna Kim, and clarinetist Tadayuki "Eric" Higashide. The quintet will perform the first movement of Johannes Brahms' Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115.

As part of the top 10 group, the ensemble will also be coached by members of the Chamber Music Society prior to the concert.

Syosset was one of 33 ensembles that applied for the honor and is one of 10 groups from the tristate area selected.

The Syosset School District congratulated the students on their achievement and praised the work of teacher Stephanie Merten and Larry Ballereau.
