Numbers released by the State Education Department show that Syosset outperformed most other districts.

The Syosset Central School District reported strong Regents exams scores and fared better than most disctricts in Nassau and Long Island, according to numbers released Thursday by the State Education Department.

99 percent of Syosset students passed the regents in 2009-2010, compared to about 92 percent for Nassau County and 90 percent Suffolk County. Island-wide, the average was about 90 percent.

"We have been aware of the results since last June and they are satisfying to the faculty," said Jeff Rozran, President of the Syosset Teachers' Association. "Administration, teachers, the community and even our students themselves have high expectations for their performance."
