Teibrook Avenue Named 'Sister Jackie Walsh Way'

Syosset street renamed in honor of St. Edward the Confessor nun killed in hit-and-run.

Parents dropping their children off for school at St. Edward the Confessor will now park on a road renamed for a late mentor. Teibrook Avenue in Syosset was recently renamed "Sister Jackie Walsh Way" in honor of the beloved nun who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run this summer.

"This sign in Sr. Jackie’s memory will remind us all of the good she did for the people of our parish and of the wonderful Sisters of Mercy who founded our school and continue to be a positive presence in our parish and school," said a statement on the school's website.

The search for the driver believed to be responsible for Walsh's death continues. Though the driver,  was named the suspect in the July hit-and-run in Water Mill. Ixpec-Chitay has not yet been found, according to the latest reports. His brother was arrested in September.
