Thompson Goes Colonial

Syosset seventh graders get taste of Colonial America.

Thompson Middle School students studying the Colonial era got a firsthand lesson on the cultures, foods, and economy of early America.

Moving through different stations, students took an in-depth look at life in Colonial America, learning about life, norms and culture, including the foods, laws, economy, culture and music of New England, middle, and southern colonies.

Students also created travel brochures to advertise the region while utilizing the information they gained during the lesson. Students will later be reading Elizabeth George Speare’s “The Witch of Blackbird Pond" to continue their studies.
