Village, Robbins Lane Students Make Art Like Pros

Artist-in-residence week a hit at Syosset elementary schools.

Robbins Lane and Village Elementary students worked like professional artists as a part of artist-in-residence week. Students from each grade level were trained by professional artists in sculpture and painting.

Village students trained with artist John DiNaro and their art teacher, Courtney Kane, by designing and creating a mural. Using their imaginations, they learned various painting methods to create a "Once Upon a Dream" mural in the school for the library. Students also painted a large piano that will be on display within the school.

At Robbins Lane, local sculptor and clay artist Marc Isaacs and teacher Lori Ann Pizzarelli guided students through the sculpting process. Each grade level used a different subject, including owls, fish, pig pots, pinch pots, turtles, and "catitude."
