Bowler Ryan Graham is Mr. Consistent

Outstanding week has freshman on path towards counties.

In a sport as fickle as bowling, consistency is a constant battle. One day, a bowler could be the greatest in the world. The next, he can't avoid the gutter. But lately, Syosset's Ryan Graham is challenging the normal path of inconsistency.

Graham, a freshman, bowled a 216 in last Thursday's 2-1 win over Jericho. The score came in the third game of a 626 series.

"Usually after practice I know where to throw it," Graham said of his performance.

The 216 also came two days after he rolled a 216 and a 242 as part of a 642 series. Those two outings helped the improve to 2 – 2 entering Tuesday's match with Plainview.  They've also moved Graham closer to his ultimate goal - to make the counties.

"At the rate I'm going, I'm going to make it," Graham said. "It's going to be pretty good to be a ninth grader making counties. It feels pretty great."

To make the all-county team, Graham will have to finish the season with a 200 average. Entering Tuesday, his average was 197 with more then half a season to play.

But the freshman, who's been on the high school team since last year, is both talented and team-oriented.

"I hope the whole team makes counties," he said. "That would be great for us."

If the season continues on its current path, at least one member will be representing the Braves on the all-county team – the freshman himself.
