Boys Volleyball Loses, But Will Host Playoff Game
The Braves open postseason Wednesday afternoon.
Early deficits are always hard to overcome, but it's especially true when the best a league has to offer is standing on the opposite side of the net. That was the situation the Syosset boys volleyball team found themselves in during their 3-0 loss to the undefeated Massapequa Chiefs on Monday at Syosset High School.
Dominant play early in all three games by the Chiefs made it difficult for Syosset (8-8) to mount a comeback.
Despite the loss, the Braves will host their first round playoff matchup on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Syosset's best chance on Monday came in the third game. After falling behind 10-5, Syosset climbed back and tied the game at 13. The Braves, stymied all day by fantastic Massapequa defense, finally looked like they had figured out the Chiefs. Up 19-16, Syosset was in control and looking to force a fourth game. But the Chiefs slammed down nine of the next 11 points to secure the sweep.
