Hurricane Cancels Local Triathlon

Sunday's Runner's Edge-TOBAY Triathlon has been called off, but Saturday's events remain on.

Due to scheduled to hit Long Island Sunday morning, the Runner's Edge-TOBAY Triathlon has been canceled.

"It is with more regret than you can possibly imagine that GLIRC and the Town of Oyster Bay have decided to cancel this year's Runner's Edge-Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon," the Friday afternoon statement from Runner's Edge said. "It would simply not be prudent or fair for us to continue preparations for Sunday under circumstances that clearly indicate that Mother Nature will not allow the event to happen."

The triathlon will not be postponed and refunds are not being offered, since the money has already been spent on shirts, trophies and medals. The store will be offering a discount on the entry fee for the 2012 Runner's Edge - TOBAY Triathlon to everyone who was entered in this year's event.
