Ice Time For Islanders Prospects

Islanders exhibition Thursday in Syosset will show off organization's top prospects.

Get ready for a cool summer diversion.

The New York Islanders will play an intrasquad scrimmage Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at  in Syosset. The Blue & White Scrimmage will feature the organization's top prospects.

The game will feature several players who saw time with the Islanders last season: Casey Cizikas, Calvin de Haan, Matt Donovan and Aaron Ness. It will also headline top prospects Ryan Strome (fifth overall pick in 2011), Nino Niederreiter (fifth pick in 2010), Brock Nelson (30th pick in 2010) and Johan Sundstrom (50th pick in 2011).

The game is sold out. The organization will donate proceeds to the Islanders Children’s Foundation. There were only 250 tickets available for the scrimmage due to seating capacity and the Islanders said it raised $5,000.

Since its inception in 2003, the not-for-profit Islanders Children’s Foundation has raised more than $5 million for the cause of helping countless children on Long Island and around the world.
