Syosset Boys Lax Loses Non-League Affair

Braves fall to 4-6 overall after falling to John Jay.

The Syosset boys lacrosse team played Westchester County's John Jay Indians at Field of Dreams in Massapequa on Saturday night. The Braves held their own through the first half but were unable to stop John Jay's offense and lost 12-8.

With the score tied at 2 in the second quarter John Jay went on a tear, scoring three goals in five minutes. They surrounded goalie Ryan Feit, firing off shots from all sides of the field. Feit was able to fend off multiple shots on goal but could only do so much. Syosset got one more goal by Doug Tesoriero with five minutes left in the second, making the score 5-3 at halftime.

John Jay then scored less than one minute into the third quarter, infuriating Syosset head coach John Calabria. The Indians kept on  scoring, stretching the lead to 9-3 at the end of the third quarter.

After giving up another goal early in the fourth, Syosset worked its way down the field, and a Ryan Hunter shot found its way into the net to close the cap to 10-4. The Braves would score four more times in the fourth, but it was too little too late.

The Braves will next play Valley Stream Central Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park.
