Syosset Football Falls to Freeport, 49-21 [VIDEO]
The Braves were in the game early, but could not handle Freeport's offense Saturday.
The Syosset Braves football team dropped their first game of the season Saturday afternoon, falling to powerhouse Freeport 49-21 in the
Freeport's high-powered offense was led by Isaiah Barnes. The dual-threat quarterback lit up the Braves defense both on the ground and in the air Saturday, finishing with three passing and one rushing touchdown.
Syosset was hampered by the injuries of running back Joe Morris and quarterback Dylan Shangold, who both left the game in the second quarter.

Hero: Shangold threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Morris in the first quarter, giving a big boost to the Braves offense at the time. Evan Kappatos had a strong game on defense, and even rushed for a 40-yard touchdown late in the game.
Turning Point: Barnes came up limping after a big 30-yard run in the second quarter, and it appeared he might be taken out of the game for a second. He would instead stay in and turn to his arm, completing the 86-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Maurice Irby. Barnes finished with 186 yards in the air to go with 108 rushing yards.

Quotable: Syosset coach Paul Rorke: "I'm dissapointed...but we saw some things in our kids, and I think we'll be okay down the road."
Bottom Line: Barnes looks to be a much improved passer from last season, which is scary for opposing defenses. Syosset was hurt by early injuries, but needed a better effort from defense to be in the game.
Key Stat: Freeport extends their winning streak to 11 games.
