Syosset Lax Celebrates Seniors, Then Blanks Knights

The Braves' playoff seeding is up in the air.

The Syosset boys lacrosse team incorporated Senior Day and Mother's Day Sunday. Upperclassmen gave their moms flowers and also wrote letters expressing appreciation to their parents.

They weren't quite as hospitable to Uniondale.

Behind three goals each from Doug Tesoriero, John Sullivan and Ryan Hunter, the Braves beat the Knights 15-0 and improved their overall record to 6-6. Jonathan Cohen and Ryan Feit combined on the shutout in goal.

For seniors John Sullivan (Yale), Justin Feit (Johns Hopkins), Tesoriero (Cornell), Cohen (Swarthmore), Zach Gropper (Hartwick), Jared Godsell (Villanova), Jeff Sumcizk (Adelphi), Dylan Gordan (Penn), Kris Kaneblei (Plattsburgh) and Jesse Yoskowitz (Nassau CC), the future is pretty clear.

But the win did little to clear up the Braves' postseason plans. As of now Syosset could be seeded as high as fourth and as low as eighth when the playoffs begin on May 18. Part of the uncertainty comes from the fact that power points, which utilizes strength of schedule and quality wins, plays into the scheduling.
