Syosset Track Coach Appreciates Senior Day Effort

Freshman relay runners hint at strong future.

A more pessimistic coach might have been glum after Syosset High's last-place showing at Tuesday's boys track meet. But coach Bart Sessa instead greeted his group of cold, tired runners at midfield after the last race was run and applauded them on their great effort.

Syosset came in fourth, scoring 31 points on Senior Day. Sessa congratulated the seniors on a successful stint with the program, and specifically mentioned Jordan Madio, Ryan Healy and Max Segal as top performers Tuesday.

The team also has a lot to look forward to. A group of Syosset freshman came within inches of setting a school record in the 4x400 relay. The finishing time of 3:51.1 was a tenth of a second off the school mark.
