Syosset Youth Hockey Players Lace Up With The Islanders

More than 1,000 hockey players from across Long Island played in scrimmages at Nassau Coliseum Sunday.

More than 1,000 youth hockey players from over 70 house league teams and 12 different ice skating rinks across Long Island laced up their skates Sunday for the fourth annual New York Islanders Jamboree. 

About 1,000 mini-mites (ages 4-6), mites (ages 7-8) and squirts (ages 9-10) participated in the ten-minute scrimmages throughout the day with the enforcement of USA Hockey standards throughout all games. 

The various ice hockey rinks participating included The Rinx in Hauppauge, Superior Ice Rink in Kings Park, Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink in Great Neck, Newbridge Arena in Bellmore, Cantiague Park in Hicksville, Islanders Iceworks in Syosset, Port Washington Skating Center, Freeport Arrows Youth Hockey, Ice Arena in Long Beach, Aviator Sports in Brooklyn, The Westchester Mariners Hockey Program and the Brewster Ice Arena.
