Syosset Youth Hockey Stars to Hit Nassau Coliseum Ice

Fourth annual New York Islanders Jamboree takes place Sunday, Jan. 16 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More than 1,000 youth hockey players from 12 New York ice rinks, including , are set to hit the Nassau Coliseum ice Sunday Jan. 16 for the day-long event that matches up the kids in friendly games. 

Other local ice rinks to participate include Newbridge Arena in Bellmore, Cantiague Park in Hicksville, Port Washington Skating Center, Freeport Arrows Youth Hockey, and Ice Arena in Long Beach. 

Over 1,000 mini-mites (ages 4-6), mites (ages 7-8) and squirts (ages 9-10) will participate in ten-minute games throughout the day with the enforcement of USA Hockey standards throughout all games.

“We are extremely excited to continue in the effort to grow the sport of hockey by having numerous youth hockey players skate in the Jamboree,” said Islanders Vice President of Operations Tim Beach in a press-release. “Every year participation in this event increases, which shows the commitment that all Long Islanders have towards expanding upon the numerous youth hockey grassroots programs offered in the area.”

The mini-mites (4-6) are set to hit the ice first, from 7 - 9 a.m., with the mites (7-8) set to go at 9 a.m., and the older kids will follow.
