Finale of 'Wonder' to be Talk of Town Thursday

Interactive discussion planned as conclusion of town's "One Town, One Book" summer reading program.

The finale of the town's summer reading program is set for Thursday at the Syosset-Woodbury Park's community center at 7 p.m..

It's the third of three interactive discussions about "Wonder," by R.J. Palacio.

The town-wide book program has been lively and interactive. It's included one early discussion, an ongoing essay contest and a dramatic reading of the book's highlights in Plainview.

The reading program, championed by Oyster Bay Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia, is centered on Auggie, the 5th grader whose deformity is something he's used to, but impacts everyone around him.

The book is a remarkable insight into human nature from first-time author Palacio. The book is on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Thursday's discussion will be facilitated by Anna Katsavos, Ph. D., Professor Emeritus at SUNY Nassau, Literature and Women’s studies. All are welcome to the free, interactive event.
