Rain Forces More Beach Closures

No swimming at several Oyster Bay beaches Wednesday.

After thunderstorms whipped through the area, the Nassau County Health Department closed several beaches in Oyster Bay for the second day in a row.

Citing dangerous runoff that can create unsafe levels of bacteria in the water, the health department closed three Town of Oyster Bay beaches to swimming Wednesday.

Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Beach and Park, the Long Island Sound side of Centre Island Beach, and Stehli Beach will prohibit swimming all day Wednesday.
