Former Yankee turned guitarist Bernie Williams will be headlining the Town of Oyster Bay's "Music Under the Stars" concert on Saturday.

He's no novelty act. The native of Puerto Rico has been playing since he was a child and went to a performance art school at age 13 while he was also displaying the world-class athletic talent that led to a 16-year career as a center fielder for the Bronx Bombers.

On the baseball field, he was on Yankee teams that won the World series in 1996 and from 1998-2000. He was a five-time All-Star a four-time Gold Glove Winner, the Most Valuable Player in the 1996 American League Championship Series and the 1998 American League batting champion.

In the field of music, his album "Moving Forward" was nominated for a 2009 Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album. It debuted as Billboard's No. 2 Contemporary Jazz Album and produced two Billboard No. 1 singles. The album features guest performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Secada and Dave Koz. Williams' first album, "The Journey Within," made it to No. 3 on the Billboard charts.

He is also the author of "Rhythms of the Game," a book about the relationship between music and athletic performance.

The free concert will begin at 8 p.m. John J. Burns Park is located at 4990 Merrick Road in Massapequa.
