Retirement Banner Ceremony for OLMA Swimmer, Bridget Moody '13

OLMA will hold a Retirement Banner Ceremony for Senior Bridget Moody on Dec. 20 to honor her many accomplishments.

Retirement Banner Ceremony to be Held at Our Lady of Mercy Academy for Swimmer Bridget Moody

Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset is proud to announce that a Retirement Banner Ceremony will be held in honor of senior swimmer, Bridget Moody, on Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. in Kieran Hall at the Academy. The entire student body, faculty, and staff of Our Lady of Mercy will be present.

Bridget has been a member of the swimming program since freshman year and cross country for three years. She was a member of the winter track and spring track programs for one year. Bridget is a 2011 and 2012 N.S.C.H.S.G.A.A. League Champion in the 500M Freestyle and added the 200M Freestyle Championship this year. She has qualified for the New York State Swimming Championships the past two years and finished 16th in the state this year in the 500M Freestyle.  She also earned the N.S.C.H.S.G.A.A. Swimmer of the Meet honor this year for her two League Championships.  It is the first time in school history that the Academy has a swimmer earning this distinction.  In cross country, Bridget’s team won the N.S.C.H.S.G.A.A. Class “A” Championship during her three years running.

Bridget has perfect attendance for her four years at Mercy and is a member of the school’s Irish Club, Pro Life, and Social Committee.  In her community, she has volunteered for Swim Across America, Youth Group, Main Street Clean Up, gives swimming lessons, teaches religion and volunteers in a retirement home.

Most recently, Bridget was awarded the 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program recognizes high school seniors nationwide who have learned to collaborate and appreciate the interrelation of academics, athletics, and community service.  The program was created through a partnership between Wendy’s International, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the downtown Athletic Club, the home of the Heisman Memorial Trophy since 1935.
