Syosset Patch spent an afternoon on patrol with Lt. Kevin Meller of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police: Syosset Unit 309. Although many may think of auxiliary police work as merely handling traffic at parades, volunteers undergo extensive peace officer training and patrol areas to help curb Syosset's most pressing crime issues.
