Holiday Concerts on Tap

Weekend fun for children and adults, alike.

Cabaret singer Karen Akers performs at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post, Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $53. Learn more. 

Valerie Simpson of Ashford and Simpson (songwriters behind “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “You’re All I Need to Get By,” “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand)” performs Saturday at Kupferberg Center for The Arts, Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets: $39-75. Learn more. 

There is a Christmas Concert at the Community Church of East Williston on Sunday at 2 p.m. The church’s Music Director Raphael Fusco will be joining the Severn River Brass Quintet at the piano and organ in a program of traditional Christmas favorites as well as New York premieres of his Sonata for Trumpet and Piano and other upbeat works composed especially for the ensemble. Click here for full event information.

Queens Symphony Orchestra returns to LeFrak Concert Hall at Kupferberg Center for the Arts on Sunday at 3 p.m.  with “Holidays Around The World. Arrive at 2 p.m. to “meet the instruments” and the performers. Tickets: adults - $20; children under 13 - $10. Learn more. 

The Choir of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Port Washington with orchestra and soloists Maria Whisenand, Deborah Fuhrman, David Reck, and Daniel Klein, will perform Händel’s “Messiah” on Sunday at 5 p.m. in the church. St. Stephen’s is located on Main Street in Port Washington, opposite the Port Washington Public Library. A reception will follow. The free performance will be led by Minister of Music Mark van Schenkhof. Learn more.
