Christianos is back. The food is great. The lasagna is just like I remember it from the old days. The only thing I miss on the menu is the cannelloni.
Christiano's Italian Restaurant
516-921-5588
Christiano's, a staple of Syosset dining for more than 50 years, has been recently updated with a comfortable new bar and DirectTV for sports viewing at the bar. The menu offers Italian specialties and steaks, and the tavern-like decor, with its dark wooden walls lined with shelves of wine bottles, provides a warm ambiance. There is a separate pizzeria next door to the restaurant and a large room for private parties. This local eatery achieved a degree of fame in 1977, when Billy Joel dedicated his song "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" to Christiano's.

Dec 2011: I think you need to mention that Christiano's is now back in the hands of its previous owners, who have returned many of the old menu items AND the old menu prices.

Christiano's may be back but in name only! The food over the past 20 years has been horrible (albeit was under a different owner, not the original);however having eaten there recently the food was only "fair" at best. I also had phoned in a take-out order that was messed up. In summary, "nothing special", if you are in the mood for reasonable Italian take out, call Cousin's Pizza across the street on Jackson Ave.
