Marie C. Smith

Marie Cutrone Smith is the Director of Donor Relations and Communications at the Long Island Community Foundation. She enables the Foundation to reach out to the community and provide unparalleled service to donors. In her role as Director of Donor Relations, Marie leads and manages the delivery of high quality services to Foundation donors and develops and cultivates positive relationships. In addition, she coordinates programs and social events for existing & potential donors as well as working with professional advisors. As the Director of Communications, Marie is responsible for building the Foundation’s brand and increase awareness, focusing on promoting its programs, services, and philanthropic efforts on Long Island.

Before joining LICF in April of 2011, Marie was Director of Strategic Partnerships at Con Edison. For 12 years, she directed Con Edison’s corporate giving strategy, managing community relations, charitable giving, volunteerism and the company’s special events programs<b><i>.</i></b> She successfully highlighted Con Edison’s role in the communities within its service area, offering support and partnerships to community-based organizations while enhancing the company’s presence in the New York business community. Marie started her career in philanthropy at KeySpan Energy (formerly Brooklyn Union Gas) as Community Outreach Coordinator in April 1999. There, she was responsible for coordinating and administering the grants management system and managed fund-raising activities for the company and affiliated community organizations.  

A 1991 graduate of Hofstra University, Ms. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and completed her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with Mercy College in 2002.

She is the former chair for the NYC Contributions Advisory Group (CAG).  She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Cross Island YMCA in Bellerose, Queens and Support Center for Nonprofit Management in NYC.

Smith proudly lives in Lynbrook with her husband and daughter.
