Syosset BOE Hires PR Firm, Prepares to Announce Results of Superintendent Search

A message from the Syosset Board of Education:

Members of the Board of Education are honored to partake in many special events during the course of the school year, such as graduations, induction and award ceremonies, school visits, theatrical performances, concerts, and numerous PTA events.  

However, the student’s vocal performance on October 28, as well as the incredible cards, letters and art work which we received that evening rank among the highlights for any Board member.  Thank you for recognizing us and showing your sincere appreciation for all that we do as Board members   It meant so much to have been acknowledged by the people that matter most to us, the students.   

We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Pritchard, who spoke so eloquently on behalf of the faculty, and offer our sincerest thanks to Ms. Gordon, PTA Council Officers and Unit Presidents for acknowledging our efforts.  Special thanks to Dr. Friedman, Mr. Salzman and Ms. Kranz for organizing the School Board Recognition celebration. 

Following up to last month’s RFP for a public relations firm, The Board interviewed and subsequently appointed Syntax. Syntax account executives will be in attendance at monthly district events/activities, gathering information and photographs for article development.  Syntax has already begun work on the design and development of a new website with an anticipated launch date of early Spring 2014.  In the interim, please note that our website continues to improve as we add more features and useful information in an effort to enhance communication with the community.

The Board will be interviewing architectural firms next week and will appoint the most qualified firm at our November 18 meeting.  At that meeting, our search firm (Hazard, Young, and Attea) will present the Superintendent Candidate’s Profile, based on results tabulated from the online survey, interviews, focus groups and community forums. 

Please continue to check our website often for updates.  We feel truly privileged to serve as well as represent this community, our students and their families.  The nine of us care deeply about our role in the community and are here to listen, learn and support all of you in any manner possible.
