District Recognizes Outstanding Fall Student Atheltes

Syosset student athletes honored at Dec. 16 BOE meeting.

The Syosset Central School District Board of Education recognized the outstanding efforts put in by members of several fall athletic teams at its Dec. 16 meeting. 

Demonstrating a commitment to their sport, team and school, these Syosset High School athletes were either named fall champions on the county level or were state qualifiers. 

Both the varsity boys cross-country team – consisting of William Anderson, Ryan DePinto, Tyler Italiano, David Lam, William Long, Dale Mittleman, Simon Nwana, Michael O’Brien and Eamon Sheerin – and the varsity girls cross-country team – consisting of Kayla Beovich, Alexandra Bruefach, Samantha DeStefani, Meghan Galvin, Lauren Gruber, Reilly Siebert and Zoe Stricoff – were honored for their Nassau County Class A Championship and qualifying for states.

Tyler was also recognized as the Nassau County Class A Individual Champion. Senior Rhea Malhotra and junior Katie Cirella, who play tennis, qualified for the New York State Championships and were honored for their achievements.

In addition to the recognitions, the high school’s choral groups, the Adelettes and Choral Pride, put on stellar performances for the board, with the Adelettes performing “I Don’t Know Why” and “Marshmallow World” and Choral Pride singing “Luck Be a Lady Tonight” from “Guys and Dolls.”
