Is lifting the Town of Hempstead ban an idea for Syosset?

Yesterday was in the Town of Oyster Bay. At a TOBAY meeting earlier this month, officials proclaimed May 31 to be a Town-wide day of recognition of the dangers of smoking.

"The anxiety when you get a cold that won't go away, and you go to the doctor and they have to do chest x-rays," said TOBAY Supervisor John Venditto, speaking from personal experience. "You're shaving time off your life out of sheer worry."

However, we also reported yesterday that the Town of Hempstead had lifted the ban on smoking at parks, beaches, and historic sites after smokers' rights groups pressured officials.
