Impending Storm Prompts Dismissals, Delays

As blizzard approaches, Syosset schools, library, businesses prepare.

Winter storm "Nemo" will hit with blizzard conditions Friday and Syosset is quickly responding with closures and schedule changes.

Our Lady of Mercy Academy announced they would be closing their doors at 12 p.m. on Friday for the storm. Patch will continue updating with other closures, delays, and early dismissals.

Kids by the Bunch in Syosset announced they would have an early dismissal at 2 p.m., according to News 12.

Syosset Library posted the following schedule changes on their website:

  • The Author visit with Ellen Feldman scheduled for Friday has been rescheduled to Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.
  • The YA Open Mike Night for has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to a date to be announced.
  • The Chess Workshop for children scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled to Feb. 16.
  • The Jimmy Moore concert scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for the summer.

Update: 9:45 a.m.

Syosset School District has cancelled all after school activities except for the SCOPE program.

Due to the uncertainty of the forecast and school decisions regarding early release and afterschool activities for TOMORROW they are RESCHEDULING the Nassau County Wrestling Tournament. This change eliminates last minute decisions, ensures all students the opportunity to participate and minimizes the loss of instructional time for less students.
THE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS: DIVISION I – SUNDAY, February 10th @ Hofstra Weigh Ins 7am -8:30am Scratch Meeting – 8:30am - 9:00am Prelims – 9:30am – 2:30 pm Quarters – 2:30pm – 4:30 pm Wrestlebacks - 4:30pm – 6:30pm (NOTE: END TIME) DIVISION I – TUESDAY, February 12th – @ Hofstra (with Section XI) Session I Weigh Ins – 8:00 – 9:30am Semis – 10:00am – 12:30pm 2nd Round of Wrestlebacks –10:00pm -12:30pm Consolation Semis – 12:30pm -1:30pm Consolation – 1:30pm-4:00pm Session II Finals -6:00pm -10:00pm
