Oct. 20: TOBAY Zoning Meeting, Donate to the Troops and Teen Board Meeting

Check out our rundown of things you should know in Syosset today.

1. Tonight is the Town of Oyster Bay Zoning Board of Appeals at 7 p.m. at the Oyster Bay Town Hall East.

2. Weather: We're not totally out of the storms yet. Today will be pretty blustery, with showers during the morning commute. Be careful driving as wet leaves can be as slick as ice on the road.

3. Syosset High School students continue the Spirit Week festivities with Donate to the Troops Day. Each graduating class has been assigned a type of donation, so if you're a student or a parent, grab one of the grade-appropriate donations before you walk out the door today.

4. Attention teens: Do you wish there were more copies of Twilight to take out from the library? Do you think the library website could use some sprucing up? Tonight is your chance to let the library know what you're thinking. Everyone in middle and high school is invited to the Teen Zone at the Syosset Public Library for the Teen Advisory Board Meeting. Just drop in tonight at 7 p.m.

5. As appealing as sitting at home all weekend and watching 31 Days of Halloween on the Sci Fi channel is, there are a bunch of events going on in Syosset this weekend. Check out our Get Out: Weekend Planner later today for our picks of activities.
