Syosset Becomes Town's 'Green' Center

How has Syosset become a green machine?

Town officials unveiled a brand new compressed natural gas fueling station at the last week. Officials said it would cut the town's petroleum usage by about 264,000 gallons per year, on top of potentially reducing greenhouse gases by 27 percent.

Syosset has been a very "green"place as a home to the public works, the sprawling Syosset-Woodbury Community Park, and the Stillwell Preserve. Syosset schools have also educated students on recycling and environmental impacts.

But is that enough? Syosset has compressed natural gas, but will that make residents trade in their gas guzzlers for compatible cars? How is Syosset doing on the environmentally friendly front?
