The brother of a man suspected in the July 9 hit-and-run death of a Syosset nun in Water Mill was himself arrested recently, after authorities say he lied about having had contact with his fugitive brother.
Lifeguard Recounts Tragedy at Ransom Beach
Jennifer Schieferstein sat quietly on a curb under a gray sky in the calm Ransom Beach parking lot Tuesday afternoon, occasionally surveying a nearby set of picnic tables. Less than 24 hours before in that exact spot, the recent James Madison University graduate's afternoon walk with her mother and dog turned into a rescue attempt.

18 Syosset Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists
18 Syosset High School students were named semifinalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.
This is the largest amount of students from Syosset High School in the district's history.
23 Syosset Musicians Make NYSSMA All-State
Syosset High School announced that 23 student musicians were chosen to represent the school at the New York State School Music Association.
The students, whose talents stand in chorus, band, orchestra, and symphony orchestra groups, were selected to perform with various NYSSMA ensembles and alternate ensembles in 2012.

Syosset Company to Renovate Sagamore Hill
Syosset's E&A Restoration Inc. will be responsible for restoring Theodore Roosevelt's summer White House, Sagamore Hill. The National Park Service agreed to a $7.2 million contract with the Syosset company for a two-year restoration.
Syosset Coldwell Banker Supports Canine Companions
Recently Syosset Coldwell Banker donated $1,500 to Canine Companions for Independence as part if its first humanitarian outreach award. Back in July, the organization held a yard sale to raise funds for the donation.
