Update: School Bus Crashes into Syosset House

Driver hospitalized after bus slammed into garage on Teibrook Avenue.

Update: Wed., 4:57 p.m. The bus has been removed from the house and transported to a police impound lot for safety checks.

A bus with six children on board crashed into a Syosset home and sent the driver to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police.

Syosset Fire Department and police units were called to the Teibrook Avenue home just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, reported police. Responders found that a First Student mini bus had crashed into the house's garage.

According to firefighters, six children were taken from the bus and brought back to the school for evaluation.

Syosset and Bethpage fire units, as well as the Second Precinct's Emergency Service and Emergency Ambulance Bureau responded to the scene. The Bethpage Technical Rescue Team came to shure up the garage, which reportedly sustained heavy structural damage.

Police confirmed that the driver of the bus was sent to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

The school district that the students attend has not been confirmed.

A cause of the accident has not yet been reported. Police have not confirmed the status of children on board.
