Two Injured in Cold Spring Road Fire

Eight departments responded to fire in Syosset Tuesday morning.

Eight local fire departments battled a Cold Spring Road house fire in Syosset early Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

Syosset Fire Department arrived on the scene after a call at about 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, according to Fire Chief Robert Kaplan, who said two floors of the home were heavily involved. The fire, which reportedly began on the first floor of the home, took about an hour to control and an additional two hours to overhaul items from the house, said Kaplan.

Syosset enlisted the aid of Oyster Bay, Jericho, Plainview, Hicksville, East Norwich, Bayville, and Locust Valley Fire Departments, as well as the Nassau County Ambulance Bureau. Household items and furniture had blocked the front entrance of the home, said officials.

A firefighter and one of the homeowners sustained minor injuries in the blaze, according to Kaplan.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal.
