Town Says Jackson Avenue Construction is Short Term

Is it worth the added traffic again?

Jackson Avenue travelers got a blast from the past this week as construction crews returned to tie up one of the few remaining loose ends in the improvement project.

The Town is installing stamped concrete sidewalks at several intersections on Jackson Avenue just south of the LIRR crossing. According to a Town of Oyster Bay spokesperson, work is due to be finished by June 25 if weather permits.

Although construction is due to take a fraction of the time spent on the major construction of Jackson Avenue, residents were still surprised and irritated by the sudden commute hold up.

Is this installment worth the short burst in traffic on Jackson Avenue? Is the timing of the project a good move or a bad choice? Would you rather do without the nice crosswalks so you can get on with your driving or do you want to stick it out now in favor of a completed and beautiful roadway?
