Syosset Teacher Receives Hall of Fame Award

Syosset teacher Larry Ballereau presented Long Island Music Hall of Fame award.

Long Island Music Hall of Fame presented Syosset High School's Larry Ballereau with the 2010 Educator of Note award.

The Hall of Fame's Paul Graff and chairman Jeffrey James surprised Ballereau during a wind ensemble rehearsal March 5 and presented his long-awaited award in front of his students and his parents.

Ballareau's innovation in and out of his high school classes won him the 2010 award. He directs the SHS wind ensemble and teaches three other classes of his invention: commercial music, recording technology, and improvisation. Ballereau is a talented musician who sings, plays guitar, piano, and a variety of wind instruments.
